I don’t want to deal with coins for parking or possibly get a ticket. What can I do?

Use your Smartphone to pay for city parking spaces with the Passport Parking application. Go to www.ppprk.com for more information. Download the app onto your phone from your play store and complete the registration process, supplying a credit card.

I downloaded the app on my phone and completed the registration process, but how do I use it?

After you park, open the app on your phone and see your stored information. Look around for the posted sign with the number of your location and enter it into the app. Choose the license plate number of the vehicle your parking and the amount of time you’ll be parked. Confirm and you’re done!

Will I get a ticket if the parking meter shows expired, although I paid using the Passport Parking app?

No. Parking Enforcement Officers check vehicle tags on a handheld device and can tell if parking fees are paid, despite what the meter shows.

Why won’t the Parking Enforcement Officer void a parking ticket?

Parking Enforcement Officers do not have the authority to void, take back, or otherwise remove correctly issued citations. However, they may recommend a parking supervisor review the situation.

When is parking lifted?

Parking is never “Lifted” in the city of Gainesville. Vehicles are always required to be parked safely and legally.
